Hi, I'm Margie!
Well now, let me introduce myself! My name is Margie Sullivan, and I've been cooking for my family for the better part of thirty-five years. My husband Hank and I raised three kids — Katie, Danny, and Sam — in the same little white house in Maple Grove, Ohio, where I still cook supper most every night. These days the best part is feeding my two grandbabies, who've taken to calling me Nana.
I started Mom's Diner back in 2006, mostly because my daughter Katie got tired of calling me long-distance every Sunday to ask "Mom, how do you make the meatloaf again?" I figured if I typed it all up in one place, the whole family could find it — and maybe a few other folks looking for honest, old-fashioned home cooking would stumble in too. Lo and behold, you did!
A Few Things About My Kitchen
Just about every recipe here came from somewhere real. A good chunk are from my mother's tin recipe box and my grandmother Pearl's handwritten cards (Lord, that woman could bake). Others I picked up at church potlucks, from neighbors, or by fussing over a restaurant dish until I cracked it at home — those are my copycat recipes, and they're some of the most popular things on the whole site.
I'm not a chef and I don't own a single gadget I can't wash by hand. My recipes use ingredients you can find at any grocery store, and I always tell you the little tricks that actually matter — the kind your grandma would've leaned over and whispered.
Come Say Hello
I love hearing from folks who've made my recipes — it truly makes my day. Did the Texas sheet cake disappear at your potluck? Did your kids actually eat the tuna casserole? Drop me a line and tell me about it. Now go on and get cooking — supper won't make itself!
xoxo, Margie
